Chapter 8

Taraka has accomplished his child hood dreams. Can he keep them?

Later that night, I took M'icli-de to my home, and took her to the roof of my hut. I told her about all the things I wonder about as I lay up there, staring at the space above me. I layed down, and she layed next to me, with her hand on my chest and her head on my shoulder. I held her hand and stared up at the night sky. The moons looked like eyes with their shadows covering a portion of them. Like the gods were staring down at me with the Yautja-de I loved. We fell asleep togehter that night. The mourning that we awoke, I just stared into her eyes. "Say M'icli-de." I said. She looked up at me. "How would you feel about going on another hunt with me?"

"It'd be an honor. How many students do you suppose?" She said.

"Heh...actually I ment just the two of us." I said.

"Oh..." She said. She smiled again. We held each other untill the sun turned from orange to yellow. We departed, but I promised to see her again. I wanted to go to the market, get some fruit, and maybe some new weapons. I ate 3 Naxa fruits.

And was soon greeted by Tokoma. "Aye my freind. How are you?" He said as he approuched my table.

"Feeling proud. What brings you here?" I said.

"I came for my mourning meal. But I thought I could talk and eat with ya." He said.

"Be my guest." I said, poiting at the bench across the table. He sat down and grabbed a Naxa from the bowl between us.

"I hate to ask, but who was that Yautja you spoke to yesterday, you seemed angry after you spoke to him." He asked, before biting the Naxa.

"That was M'icli-de's father. He was trying to get me to leave her." I said.

"Why? If I was her father, I'd be proud you chose her for a possible mate." He said after swallowing his first bite.

"She's...not like other Yautja-de's. He dispies her for it." I said, shaking my head. "Poor fool."

"How's she not like other Yautja-de's?" He asked before swallowing his second bite.

"She's a hunter." I said. Tokoma stopped in the middle of his bite and looked at me. I growled and said, "Don't tell me YOU agree with him!"

"Nye, not at all. I just never heard of aYautja-de hunting." He said before returning to his bite.

"There's more to her than that." I said. Staring off into the sky.

"Oh?" Tokoma said. I told him the whole story of how I met her, and how I ended up where I am with her. He'd eaten 3 Naxa fruit when I finished. He said, "Sounds to me like you've got a speacial Yautja-de, if I were you, I'd be very proud."

"I am. There's no word for the amount of pride she gives me." I said.

"Well, I respect you both. You both have honor." He said. He asked, "Have you ever thought about taking her with us on a hunt?"

"Yes I have, but after what I've seen her do to me when I first met her, I wouldn't want her to kill a student." I said with a chuckle. Tokoma laughed with me. I added, "However, in two days I'm taking her to the ooman planet."

"Heh. Kainde' Amedha aren't good enough for the two of you?" He said.

"Nye, I just want to take her hunting something we haven't faced together." I said.

"Well, make sure you take care of her and yourself. I don't want to find out that one of you perished before another class." He said.

"Don't worry my freind. It wont happen." I said.

******

The hunt with M'icli-de was excellent. She and I killed over 3 dozen oomans. Aparently they were at war, and their warriors had different weapons than when I'd faced them. They had sticks that'd fire a stinging pebble. It took them a while to reload after firing, if they were to engage while reloading, they would resort to fighting with H'sai-de's simular to the ones I first faced, but with shorter hand grips and more frail. The oomans wearing blue clothing or red clothing would fight the oomans with the opposite color.

"Huili-bpe Pyode amedha." I muttered. M'icli-de and I would wait for them to either stray from a major battle, or face whomever won their conflict. When the hunt ended, I had 15 trophies. M'icli- de had 18!

"Ha! I won." She said with a single pound on her chest.

"I let you win." I said with a smile.

"Let me win? You couldn't keep up with me, admit it!" She continued as she and I took our gear off and inspected trophies.

"I didn't do that bad, I just had more patience than you." I said with a snicker.

"More patience? That the best you could come up with? You were too busy toying with the oomans to kill them!" She said with a single punch to my shoulder.

"Aye, so what if I like to toy with them before I kill them? I like letting them believe they killed me and kill them when they let their guard down." I said.

She came up behind me and held me, "I didn't say that was wrong, you were just too slow." She said, giggling.

"Perhaps." I said, looking over at her. She smiled. I added, "Gods be praised, I love you."

"Aye, and I love you." she said.

"You know, Tokoma asked me if I was going to have you join us on a class hunt, would you care to come?" I asked.

"As long as I'm with you." she said, rubbing my chest. As she did, she discovered a wound. One of the oomans did get one shot on me. She turned me around. "I see you've lost your touch." She said with a smile.

"What? The oomans I faced didn't HAVE those sticks." I said. She laughed as she took my med pack from my armor and helped me get the pebble out. I took a medicomp to clean my body of any infections. M'icli-de had to leave, Medi comps inflict more pain than they soothe, and any Yautja is dangerouse with his veins being cleaned. I was in pain for about 5 minutes. I felt ill though. It was a common side effect from the medi-comp. I just needed to sleep. I set the course for the auto pilot, and went on our way home. I was still in pain in a few places. I hisses if I touched that area.

"Name of gods, you cry more than a suckling!" M'icli-de said to me as she approuched the hibernation pods.

"What? I'll have you know I haven't cried since I was a child! It just hurts more than I'm used to, thats all." I said, rubbing my aching arm.

"I see. And where does it hurt?" She said, setting on the edge of my pod with me.

"Here." I said, pointing at my forarm. She took it and kissed it. "And...here." I said, pointing at my heart. She kissed it too. "And....here." I said, pointing at my mouth. She smiled and we kissed.

"How's that?" she asked.

"Gods of might, I can't tell what kind of angel you are, angel of Thei-de? Angel of Nan'ku? Angel of Jehdin?" I said, holding her hand.

"How about all of them?" She asked as she layed her head on my shoulder. "I guess there's nothing wrong with that." I said. She and I layed down on the pod, and we slept in the same pod, holding each other. (I guess it was a good thing I got a large pod insted of a standard!)

*****

So after that hunt, we stayed on our home world for several days, untill finally, the new class had arrived. I had a large one since I had 4 blooded. Tokoma, Tah'kri, Yeiyinde', and my beloved M'icli-de. The students thought it was strange having a female yautja with us. "We will have a demonstration." I said alloud after lecturing on the art of fighting. "M'icli-de will be facing...." I said, trying to chose who would be her opponent. I wanted to pick someone who looked willing. Sadly, no one did. "What's the matter with you?" I asked everyone. M'icli-de rolled her eyes with a laugh. "I see. You are afraid of this Yautja-de."

"From what I've heard of her, we have every right to be!" Tokoma said.

"Well in that case would you care to step onto the mate with her?" I said. Tokoma went silent.

"How about 2?" M'icli-de said. Everyone looked at her. "2 students. Or 2 blooded. It doesen't matter to me."

"Aye. I'll do it!" A student said, approuching the mate.

"So will I." The student known as Raka-Kahan said.

"You sure this is a good Idea?" Tokoma asked me as M'icli-de and the students took their places.

"She wants to face 2, I think she can handle them."

"Thats not what I was asking!" Tokoma said, pointing at the students.

"Gods be with them." I said as I raised my hand up, when I dropped it, I called out, "Pa-OMP!"

M'icli-de immediatly ran forward with her arms out, knocking over both students. I burst out laughing. The stunned students got to their feet, facing M'icli-de. She didn't move, she stood there, waiting for them to attack. They stared at her, then glanced at each other. M'icli-de began to tap her foot on the mat. They finally rushed after her, when she knelt down and swept them off their feet with a single kick, they fell forward and landing infront of me face down. The first student got to his feet and charged at her with his fist extended, M'icli-de knelt down, and grabbed his ankle and wrist, with little effort, she threw him off the mat and into a wall. I burst out laughing again. She turned and approuched Raka-Kahan, who when he saw her approuch, knelt down with his palms up, showing he is less superior.

"M'icli-de is victoriouse." I said alloud. Everyone began cheering Nan-desintje-de. M'icli-de made no chant for her self as she returned to my side. "Raka-Kahan was wise to stop." I said alloud as I approuched him. "There are times were retreat is your only option. Dishonor only comes from a fight you had no chance of winning. I personally think he didn't have a chance, but apparently he did. Realising he couldnt was a wise choice."

"Thank you, master Taraka." he said with a bow.

"Now then, it is time to feed. when you are finished, return here." I said as I turned and walked out of the Kehrite. I took my food, and M'icli-de's to my quarters, were she and I ate, and talked. From what I was told later by Tokoma, the students thought that there was no way to defeat a Yautja-de.

"Tell them there is a way, but not to try it unless its a matter of Nanku' or Thei'di." I told him. I was tempted to tell them that I myself defeated M'icli-de in a jehdin, but didn't want to bring that up. Even if it was the event that sparked my interest in her.

We finally made our way to the planet of Yom. This planet had hardly any trees, and water was scarce. There were plenty of rocks and canyons though. I had my usual arsenal, except for my replacment of my normal K'cte-pas. I had duel K'cte-pas that were longer than my arms when exteneded. I called them my wings.

"Now who's the angel of Thei-de?" M'icli-de said wih a laugh when she helped me attatch them to me.

"I think your the angel of everything, including thei-de." I said to her. She smiled and patted my shoulder as she went to put on the rest of her own armor.

That hunt was very thrilling. The Kainde' amedha spawned from quadroped host, making them agile and fast. They were difficult to hit with plasma, but saticfying. They were lighter than the usual drones I've faced. They leapt extreamly fast, but too fast to see my K'cte-pa's infront of them. They would impale themsleves on my new set of K'cte-pas time again. Once in a while, one would stand off and attempt to slash or impale with their tales. I did enjoy the thrill of that. One of them I kicked onto its hind legs, sliced it in half, and kicked its upper torso off. One student I became fond of, aside Raka, was Vy'drach. He was very skilled wth the plasma caster, timing his shots, or using them to corner his prey. He'd make an excellent warrior, however, he was a bit cocky, a couple times he resorted to blades since he didn't pay attention to one approuching him. When the hunt was over, I didn't lose a single student, and everyone had at least one trophy. When I came to my quarters, M'icli-de came in soon after.

"How many did you get?" I asked her.

"Seven." She replied

"Cjit. I got seven." I said.

"Even again." M'icli-de said as she came to me.

"I guess father taught us both well, if this happens everytime we hunt." I said, removing my armor.

"Or maybe it was because you didn't PLAY with them." She said, smiling with her hands on her hips.

I finished taking my armor off, leaving me in just my loin cloth. I turned and said, "Well, I'd never faced quadroped Kainde' Amedha before, I didn't want to get cocky, even if they were frail compared to the bipedal ones."

"I see your father's lecturs finaly got through to your brain." She said, laughing.

"What are you talking about?" I asked her as I turned to my pod.

"Well when we went hunting for oomans, it was like you were thicker than a nebula!" she said, poking the top of my head.

"Maybe it was I was too mezmerized by you. Or maybe it was your musk!" I said, sniffing her.

She laughed and said, "I guess we both need to bathe when we get home."

We held each other, and I said, "I look forward to it."

*****

When we got home, we did bathe, Suprisingly Vy'drach and Raka-Kahan wanted to hunt with me again. But Insteed, I spent some time with M'icli-de. We went on another hunt, this time to Lo'ki, the very planet we first hunted on. We both got equal trophies. (again.) and we once again, slept in the same pod. When we got home, I met up with Tokoma.

"So how has it been for you?" I asked him.

"It's been going rather well. Taraka, I want to talk to you about something." He said.

"Alright. Shoot."

"The clan is getting large. Too large for one ship. I think we need to devide it."

"What are you talking about?"

"We do not have enough room on your father's ship for a massive clan. We need more ships if we wish to continue having followers." He said to me.

I started to worry. Did he want to leave? Or did he just want to lead a section of the clan himself. It was a difficult questions to answer. "Taraka, I've known you for nearly 10 years. You trust my judgement do you not?" He asked me.

I nodded, "Yes. I believe you are right. Sides, we've gained enough respect to have another ship, have we not?" I said.

"Matter of fact, I have already received another, before you returned. I've been making preperations as well." He said.

"Good man. I want you to lead the second branch, I'll use my fathers ship and lead the first. Alright?" I said.

"Aye. If it alright with you, I'd like to take Yeiyinde and Tah'kri as my blooded assistance, and take a class in a few days." He said.

"I approve. Besides, I'm taking M'icli-de on another hunt, but with a suprise." I said, nudging him.

"Aye...You're finally going to ask her?" he said, eying me.

"Aye. After the hunt, I will ask her to be my first mate. I love her so much, and we've been this way for so long, I think it is time." I said.

Tokoma patted my back and said, "Best of luck to you both." He smiled. "I'll see you two when you return.
